Workload Balancing (WB) is a software tool developed in collaboration with MIT's Operations Research Center. This data-based process improvement enables RAS to assign proposals more evenly among Contract Administrators (CAs) to deliver faster proposal approval times. We expect it will also provide better overall service to faculty and departments by allowing CAs to address other sponsored project activities such as sponsor negotiations, account activation, distribution of funding to child accounts, etc.
WB goes hand-in-hand with a project to improve the Administrative Quality of Proposals by reducing the amount of re-work that RAS and departments must do prior to submitting the proposal to the sponsor.
- How Does Workload Balancing Work? - The basics on this software tool.
- Viewing Proposal Assignments - How can a DLC administrator or Assistant Dean know both who is currently reviewing a proposal after routing as well as to which RAS Approver their proposal has been assigned once it reaches RAS?
- DLC Best Practices - Recommended practices are provided to enable greater efficiency during proposal submissions.
