As of January 1, 2025, the U.S. Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) will require Enhanced Identity Proofing at login, using government-issued ID and other personal information. Only the PI (not RAS or an administrator) may submit proposals through EERE eXCHANGE.
PIs will need to use this new process and set it up prior to any application deadlines. EERE states the validation process may take up to 10 days and users should plan accordingly.
- To start the process, visit EERE eXCHANGE.
- There are two options for logging in, Login.gov and ID.me. Both require submission copies/photos of documents such as driver’s license, passport photo, and Social Security number.
Login.gov
- If you already have an account, use existing email/password.
- If you don’t have an account, you will need to set one up.
- Identity verification options:
ID.me
- Use existing account, or if none, create new account.
- Once an account is set up, verify your identity by providing the following:
- Home address
- Social Security number (if you do not have a Social Security number, you may verify using a video call)
- Permission to use credit profile and other public sources
- Photo of driver's license or state ID, passport, or passport card
- Depending on what selections you make for how to verify identity, there may also be a facial scan using phone.
