For nearly five years, we’ve been using this section in our newsletters to turn the spotlight on the incredibly creative, intelligent and talented members of the MIT research administration community. We’ve covered some of the teams that keep research rolling at MIT; we’ve said “goodbye” to longtime friends and “hello” to new ones, including some that joined us in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, as we strive to emerge from the unprecedented storm that we have experienced over the past two-and-a-half years, we want to acknowledge the entire MIT research administration community for their herculean efforts to keep the ship afloat ins some very rough seas.

The MIT Research Administration Community is over 400 strong, encompassing such diverse roles as:

  • Administrative Assistants
  • Administrative Officers
  • Compliance Officers
  • Contract Administrators
  • Financial Administrators
  • Financial Analysts
  • Financial Assistants
  • Financial Officers
  • Grants Development Officers
  • Project Coordinators
  • Project Managers
  • Subaward Administrators
  • Strategic Transaction Officers

And, the list goes on. The one thing that all of these roles have in common is a commitment to supporting the research enterprise at MIT, allowing MIT faculty and other researchers to engage in the groundbreaking research that impacts lives and changes our world. Research administrators are vital to MIT’s mission.

While we will continue to use this space to spotlight the unique lives and careers of individual research administrators at MIT, we hope that you all take this opportunity to shine a light on your own accomplishments and acknowledge yourselves as the superstars that you are.
