The Grant and Contract Administration Team at RAS is organized to support research through one primary point of contact. Each department, lab or center at the Institute is assigned an RAS representative (a contract administrator). This individual is responsible for services to the department for the entire life-cycle of the project including proposal review and submission, award negotiation and set up, award management and award close out.
The Team also includes several individuals who specialize in negotiating the more complex agreements with non-federal sponsors (contract specialists). These individuals are brought in to assist the contract administrator with the negotiation or to handle the negotiation process entirely, depending upon the circumstances.
Sponsor Liaisons (those at the level of Senior Contract Administrators, Managers or Director) have special expertise in the policies and procedures of a particular sponsor of MIT research. Liaisons perform several functions related to their particular agency including approving proposals; leading or participating in negotiations, approving all awards; signing awards up to their dollar limit; and liaising with sponsors to resolve issues related to the administration of the sponsor’s funding.
Credentialed Contract Administrators are authorized to submit their own proposals from the DLCs they support to a Sponsor they are credentialed in.
