Change to Federal Subaward Threshold

MIT’s FY27 F&A rate agreement will reflect the subaward threshold increase from $25,000 to $50,000 (excluding NIH awards, which will continue to use the $25,000 threshold).  Include this calculation in federal proposals submitted in anticipation of new awards to be issued on or after July 1, 2026. 

Charging Faculty Summer Salary: 2026 Guidelines

Guidelines for charging faculty summer salaries were shared in a letter on May 18, 2026.

NIH Research Security Training and Disclosures

NIH has recently made changes regarding Research Security Training, Common Forms, and Malign Foreign Talent Recruitment Program certification.

On Saturday, April 11th, from 11am - 12pm, Kuali Coeus, CAC Connect, COUHES Connect, OST, Award Budget, Agreements, the Informal International Collaborations Tool, and the External Contract Depository will be unavailable due to system maintenance.

2026 RAS Forum Series for DLCIs – Registration Open

This spring, Research Administration Services (RAS) is planning a series of open forums to provide helpful information and updates as well as answer questions on all things related to research administration at MIT. Forums will begin on February 4 and be hosted monthly through June.

NIH Updates: Biographical Sketch, Current and Pending Support, Budgets, Letters of Intent, and RPPRs

As of January 25, 2026, NIH requires the use of Common Forms for the biographical sketch and current and pending (other) support. Other changes to budgets, letters of intent, and RPPRs have also been implemented.

NASA Grant/Cooperative Agreement Administrative Supplement Requests

NASA’s webform for Grant/Cooperative Agreement Administrative Supplement Requests is no longer available. To submit these requests, complete the appropriate form and submit to nssc-admin-supplement-request@mail.nasa.gov.

National Science Foundation Policy Update (NSF PAPPG 24-1 Supplement 2) – Effective January 22, 2026

The U.S. National Science Foundation has posted a policy notice, NSF PAPPG 24-1 Supplement 2, that applies to all financial assistance awards issued on or after January 22, 2026. Changes have been made to the NSF Public Access Repository (NSF-PAR), Research.gov Project Reports, and the Data Management and Sharing Plan (DMSP).
