Effective July 1, 2013 (FY 2014), the Institute raised the capitalization threshold on purchased and fabricated equipment from $3,000 to $5,000 per item, duly notifying sponsors of the change for a 1-year period.
The $5,000 threshold applies to awards that result from new, renewal and competing continuation proposals submitted on or after February 1, 2013. Previously existing awards and awards from proposals submitted prior to February 1, 2013 will continue with the lower $3K threshold until they are completed or modified as a result of a renewal or competing continuation proposal.
